You and your partner, and no it's not a "bad sign" if you both admit to needing help
Scenario A
You're a young to middle-life adult and your relationships, with your partner, your kids, your friends, yourself...need a tweaking. It's not that your relationships are bad, but they, well, confuse you, sometimes frustrate you, and at times hurt you. Your relationship with yourself is fine (awkward cough as we both know there's so much more to the word "fine"); though you do feel at times stuck, anxious (and can't understand why), unmotivated, and stressed. Let's face it, while you may be feeling fine, okay, or "meh," there's a part of you that wonders if you could feel more joy, peace, to stress less, and to live life more fully. You've been putting off therapy for some time and know deep down that you probably need a friendly kick in the ass to get your mildly avoidant self through my doors (virtual or wooden).
Scenario B
You've always felt your brain worked just a little (or a lot) differently from others and have wondered where that leaves you in your relationships with friends, family, and your future. You may have felt "different" in your early school years, and have come to question if labels like "atypical" or "neurodiverse" just might fit you. They are broad-enough labels after all and you have had a notably different experience than other "typical" peers. Now that you're an adult you're becoming curious if there is more for you in life. You know you are overly hard on yourself and doubt your abilities in relationships, in work, or in school. There's a part of you that knows you have it in you to challenge these old, negative ideas of yourself that you have been fighting for so long, and to find greater joy and agency in your life.
